Parkside Elementary students ‘Finish the Thought’ Friday

Carolyn Bryant’s 4th grade students “Finish the Thought Friday” Students had to come up with a positive word to describe what they have been seeing while we shelter in place. They wrote their words down and then everyone shared. Carolyn created a video that helps celebrate what young minds are observing and learning through this health crisis.

Fine Arts Student of the Week: April 24, 2020

LISD’s Fine Arts Student of the Week Jake Jeker is an amazing actor! The eighth grader’s performance in Henry Middle School’s UIL play Antigone was so strong that he helped the entire cast up their game. Before school closures, Jake was directing the drama club play. His passion also fueled his fire to teach theatre games every week during enrichment.

Board Briefs: Budget Workshop April 22, 2020

In a workshop discussion focused on proposed compensation plan recommendations, Trustees considered and discussed the ramifications of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic. The board’s interest in the safety and wellbeing of both students and employees was clearly evident in the discussion. Chief Financial Officer, Elaine Cogburn and Chief Human Resources Officer, Karie Lynn McSpadden presented a coordinated package of personnel and budget options for the board to consider.
