Leander ISD is thrilled to announce Gina Freeman as North Elementary’s next principal. The Board of Trustees approved her hiring at Thursday’s meeting.
“Gina is a relational leader who builds trust through genuine care, thoughtful listening, and a deep commitment to the students, staff, and families she serves,” said Leander ISD Superintendent Chris Clark, Ed.D. “She brings a combination of grounded execution, steady leadership, and a deep devotion to North Elementary. We look forward to the leadership and heart she will bring to the campus community.”
Freeman has served as the assistant principal of North Elementary since the school opened in 2022. In this role, she focused on building positive, collaborative relationships with students, staff and families through strong communication and by cultivating a connected campus community. She also positively supported student learning by analyzing data to strengthen instruction and providing meaningful intervention and enrichment opportunities.
Before moving into campus administration, Freeman taught 1st through 4th grade in Leander ISD at Reagan and Tarvin elementary schools. She began her career as an educator in Lake Travis ISD, where she taught 1st and 2nd grade for nearly a decade.
“I am truly grateful and honored to serve as the next principal of North Elementary,” Freeman said. “I deeply value the strong culture we have built together and am committed to ensuring every Navigator feels supported, included, and celebrated. I look forward to continuing to partner with students, staff, and families to create engaging learning experiences that empower our learners to achieve, advocate for themselves and others, and make a positive impact in our community. Together #WeCAN.”
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Freeman earned her Bachelor of Science degree in applied learning and development. She later earned two master’s degrees: A Master of Education in special education from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003 and a Master in Education in educational administration from Concordia University in 2020. That same year, Freeman also successfully completed the Leander ISD Aspiring Administrator Academy.
