The eighth grader’s performance in Henry Middle School’s UIL play Antigone was so strong that he helped the entire cast up their game. Before school closures, Jake was directing the drama club play. His passion also fueled his fire to teach theatre games every week during enrichment.

Board Briefs: Budget Workshop April 22, 2020

In a workshop discussion focused on proposed compensation plan recommendations, Trustees considered and discussed the ramifications of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic. The board’s interest in the safety and wellbeing of both students and employees was clearly evident in the discussion. Chief Financial Officer, Elaine Cogburn and Chief Human Resources Officer, Karie Lynn McSpadden presented a coordinated package of personnel and budget options for the board to consider.

Our Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week Hailey Arrington helped trailblaze as one of Glenn High School’s “O.G.” (original Grizzlies). Hailey is a senior captain on the Grizzly softball team. Hailey is also a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Academic All-District softball team.

COVID-19 Update #22: Classrooms to Remain Closed for 2019-20 School Year, Zoom Forums Next Week, Board Briefs

All school classrooms will remain closed for students through the end of the 2019-20 school year, Gov. Greg Abbott announced earlier today. In his press conference on the state’s response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic, the Governor directed school districts to Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Mike Morath for guidance on graduation and other operational decisions tied to the extended closure.
