Leander ISD students interested in entering health and medical professions can join a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program of study within the Health Science cluster.

The Health Science programs include Exercise Science and Wellness and Healthcare Therapeutics.

Students in CTE medical programs have the opportunity to intern and shadow nurses and doctors at the Cedar Park Regional Hospital after completing required courses.

“We research what job we may want to do in the future, and it’s just really interesting,” Leander High School graduate and Healthcare Therapeutics student Ankita Ravi said. “It has actually let me find a path of what I want to do in the future.”

By graduation, Healthcare Therapeutics students are able to acquire their Medical Assistant certification.

“I’ve always wanted to be a doctor and go into the medical field, but this has definitely given me a broader sense of what that means and the behind-the-scenes work of it,” Cedar Park High School graduate and Healthcare Therapeutics student Nasreen Marikar said.
