Every March, Leander ISD recognizes National Athletic Training Month with the purpose of honoring students dedicated to the health and safety of our student-athletes. #1LISD is featuring two athletic trainers as our Student-Athletes of the Week during the month–one from every high school campus. We are excited to applaud the contributions of these outstanding students!

Student Athlete of the Week: Hailey Gross
Hailey Gross, CPHS

We’re proud to recognize Cedar Park High School’s Hailey Gross! The graduating senior supports the football and boys basketball programs. Hailey’s dedication shines as a four-year letterman in the Sports Medicine program. Committed to her studies and extracurricular activities, Hailey makes straight As and represents YoungLife.

“Hailey has always been a hard-working, reliable student trainer that is a joy to be around,” CPHS athletic trainer Stefany Austin said. “Coaches and athletes alike enjoy having her on their sideline because they know she will do a good job without any complaints.”

She goes the extra mile without ever being asked. Vandegrift High School’s Osiris Hirsch has earned recognition as Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week. The senior student-athletic trainer has supported Vandegrift Viper boys basketball and football athletic programs. Osiris joined Viper Nation as a junior. She has not only grown as a student but as a friend and leader to everyone in the sports medicine program.

“Osiris is one of the kids I never have to worry about doing the right thing,” VHS athletic trainer Chris Shivers said. “She has been a leader in the program through her work ethic. Osiris makes the effort to be friends with every other student trainer in the program. When she arrives each day, she never complains about the tasks, even though they can sometimes wear on students during a long season.”
