Leander ISD is proud to announce Derek Landry, from Running Brushy Middle School, as the LISD Student-Athlete of the Week. Derek is a 7th-grade member of the Cougar football team and plans to tryout for the basketball team this fall as well. In addition to his role in athletics, Derek participates in a leadership course and finds he is able to apply what he learns in the classroom onto the football field.
“Derek has been working hard in practice and gets better every day,” said RBMS 7th-grade coach Brandon Hopp. “He excels in the classroom and is a true leader in the 7th-grade athletic program.”
