The Foundation for Music Education recently announced its selections as National and Commended Winners in the 2018 Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors and National Choral Honors Project, and LISD bands and choirs have received national recognition.

 

The following LISD Bands have been named as National Winners:

 Four Points MS Wind Ensemble, directed by Jessica Gonzales

Henry MS Honors Band, directed by Robert Herrings

Wiley MS Wind Ensemble, directed by Garland Chiasson

Cedar Park MS Symphonic Band, directed by Britni Dunn

Vandegrift HS Wind Ensemble, directed by Mike Howard

Vista Ridge HS Wind Ensemble, directed by Bryan Christian

Vista Ridge HS Percussion Ensemble, directed by Hector Gil

 

The following LISD Bands and Choirs have been named as Commended Winners:

Cedar Park HS Varsity Mixed Choir, directed by Lisa Holt

Canyon Ridge MS Honor Band, directed by Amy Allison

 

In the New Music Division:

Vandegrift HS Wind Ensemble was named a National Winner

Vista Ridge Wind Ensemble was named a Commended Winner

 

Additionally, the following non-varsity bands received the Citation of Excellence:

Four Points MS Symphonic Band, directed by Jonathan Villela

Vista Ridge HS Wind Symphony, directed by Bryan Christian

 

The following non-varsity bands were named as Commended Winners:
