State Legislators representing Leander ISD will be joining the District for virtual meetings throughout January in preparation for the 87th Texas Legislative Session.
We are hosting these meetings in partnership with our Leander ISD Council of PTAs. They are open to all members of our community. The focus will be on public education topics as Legislators start the session on Jan. 12.
Ask your questions and hear from your elected representatives
The District picked various times in order to give options for various stakeholder groups, including classroom teachers who may bring students into the discussions. This is our first time trying this type of offering, and we are grateful to our elected officials for making time.
Please register via Zoom for the following dates and times:
- Rep. John Bucy, Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m.
- Rep. Vikki Goodwin, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m
- Rep. Donna Howard, Jan. 21 at 9 a.m.
- Rep. James Talarico, Jan. 29 at 12 p.m.
- Sen. Charles Schwertner, Feb. 11 at 12 p.m.
We hope to add more virtual events throughout the month of January, so please stay tuned.
Have you reviewed the Leander ISD legislative priorities?
The Leander ISD Board of Trustees adopted a slate of legislative agenda items for the state’s session, including the areas of student data privacy, mental health, special education, fast-growth schools accountability, local control, and school funding.
Please review our legislative priorities on this website. Review the Texas PTA advocacy webpage.
