Rutledge Elementary School Principal Jessica Schock has been selected to serve as an area superintendent after the Board of Trustees approved her position at Thursday night’s meeting. In this role, Schock will support various campuses in Leander ISD, partnering with principals to advance student achievement and the district’s vision and goals.

“Jessica brings strong relational leadership, a thoughtful and strategic approach to leading, and a clear commitment to visibility, partnership, and follow-through that will serve the district well in this role,” said LISD Superintendent Chris Clark, Ed.D. “Her ability to build trust while helping others move forward with clarity and purpose will be a strong asset to our leadership team.”

Schock brings more than two decades of experience in public education to the role of area superintendent, including 10-plus years of experience in campus leadership. As principal of Rutledge Elementary, she led strategic planning and goal-setting efforts to align with district priorities. A resilient and adaptable leader, Schock successfully guided continuous improvement efforts while maintaining a positive, student-centered culture. Beyond the campus level, she has contributed to districtwide work, including service on Leander ISD’s Summer Leadership Conference planning committee.

Prior to joining Leander ISD in 2023, Schock was a campus leader in Round Rock ISD, serving in principal and assistant principal roles. She began her career as a substitute teacher in Pflugerville ISD in 2002.

“I am honored and excited to serve as an area superintendent in Leander ISD,” Schock said. “After 11 meaningful years as a campus administrator, I am grateful for the relationships, learning, and experiences that have shaped my journey to this role. I look forward to continuing to serve our students, staff, and community and to supporting the important work happening across our campuses and district.”

A graduate of the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Schock earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2000. She went on to receive her master of education degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University in 2015.
