Leticia Angelim from Henry Middle School is the Leander ISD Fine Arts Student of the Week.

Leticia has been active with the HMS Theatre department since sixth grade, beginning with the spring musical The Little Mermaid. Leticia has been a member of the HMS Varsity Advanced Theatre during her 7th and 8th grade years, at which time she was a part of two award winning UIL One-Act Plays. This past fall, in her 8th grade year, Leticia received All-Star Cast at both the Zone and District levels for her portrayal of Grace in Don Zolidis’ Badger.

Leticia has been a part of Henry Middle School’s Shakespeare Under the Stars productions, including a turn as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and she played Dorothy in last year’s Wizard of Oz. Leticia will be Mary Poppins in the HMS spring musical, Mary Poppins, Jr.

Theatre Director Lorri Boyd said that Leticia is a talented, well-rounded actress, singer, and dancer, and shines as a leader in the HMS Theatre Department.

“Leticia is the first one to volunteer to help and goes out of her way to ensure that younger students feel welcome and respected. Her responsibility and work ethic make her an excellent example to her fellow actors,” Boyd said. “Leticia serves as our Thespian Troupe president and takes the initiative to organize meetings and events for the Junior Thespian Troupe. Leticia is constantly looking to improve her craft, accepting feedback with grace and a growth mindset.”

In addition to acting in shows, Leticia takes an active role in working backstage, putting her sewing skills to use as she helps to repair and alter costumes. Leticia is also a member of the HMS Black Diamonds dance team, and participates on their competition squad, in addition to being a member of the Impact Dance Company. Leticia maintains an all “A” average throughout the year and is a mentor and leader for new theatre members.
