Leander ISD is thrilled to welcome an established district educator and leader, Kelly Looman, as principal of Parkside Elementary School, after the Board approved the hiring at Thursday’s meeting.

“I am excited to announce Kelly Looman as the next principal of Parkside Elementary. Kelly brings a wealth of passion and dedication to her new role, along with a continued commitment to her students, staff and community,” Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., said. “She actively leads the campus to live out their vision of cultivating each scholar to become a lifelong learner who will inspire others and positively change the world. With her leadership, Parkside is sure to continue thriving as a place where students can grow and excel.”

Looman began her educational career at Parkside in 2012 as a fourth grade teacher, taking on leadership responsibility in various roles over the next several years, including as a team lead, mentor teacher and leadership team member. From 2020-2022, she served at Danielson Middle School as an instructional coach. In 2022, Looman returned to Parkside as an assistant principal, where she has supported the campus with dedication, skill and strong leadership abilities.

“After nearly ten years of serving as a teacher and administrator at Parkside Elementary, I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to continue serving this amazing community as principal,” Looman said. “Parkside is a truly special place, and I look forward to partnering with the students, staff and community to build upon the incredible things already happening at our school.”

Looman completed a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism at Texas A&M University in 2005. In 2020, through the LISD Aspiring Leaders Program at Concordia University, she completed a Master of Education degree in educational administration. Additionally, Looman has participated in extensive continuing education and professional development opportunities.
