Leander ISD Area Superintendent Angela Hodges, Ed.D., has been named the district’s new deputy superintendent of learning and innovation. In this role, Hodges will help lead the district’s academic vision and strategic direction, overseeing curriculum and instruction, all aspects of teaching and learning and school leadership  innovation initiatives and systems designed to improve student outcomes and experiences across school leadership in LISD.

The Board of Trustees approved the recommendation Thursday nght.

“Angela has a proven track record of effective leadership and innovative thinking,” Superintendent Chris Clark, Ed.D., said. “I am confident that she will bring this same impactful vision to the role of deputy superintendent of learning and innovation, driving continued success for Leander ISD.” 

Hodges brings 20 years of experience in public education and has served in a variety of leadership roles, including principal, assistant principal and instructional coach. As area superintendent, she leads efforts related to strengthening accountability systems and aligning district strategy to campus implementation, particularly as it relates to professional learning communities (PLCs) as the core driver of student learning.

As she prepares for the transition into her new role, Hodges emphasized a shared commitment and approach to student-centered learning.

“I am honored and excited to step into the deputy superintendent of learning and innovation role and continue serving the students, staff, families, and community of Leander ISD,” she said. “In collaboration with leaders across the district, I look forward to supporting instructional leadership, strengthening alignment across the departments of Learning and Innovation, and advancing meaningful learning experiences for every student.”

Hodges is filling the role left vacant by Clark, who stepped into the superintendent role in April.
