From Dec. 4-8, Leander ISD is celebrating School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Week.

Through partnerships with local enforcement – Cedar Park Police Department, Leander Police Department and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office – SROs are highly trained law enforcement officers who choose to serve at LISD schools. SROs help create a welcoming environment on campuses while ensuring the safety of students and staff.

“The Leander ISD SROs work hard to build relationships with their students, staff and campus community on a daily basis. They not only ensure the safety of their students and schools, but create a sense of community and collaboration,” SRO Supervisor and Leander Police Department Sgt. Elizabeth Conrad said. “Thank you to all of our SROs for their year round commitment, dedication and service to our schools.”

SROs are familiar, trusted faces for students, building a sense of trust and community between law enforcement and students, parents and staff. And in times of crisis, they are an invaluable resource to our administrators.

Director of Security Russell Bundy expressed the district’s sincere gratitude and appreciation for serving students with such a great passion for compassion.

“The fact that each one of our SROs chose to be in this special law enforcement position reveals their compassionate demeanor and dedication in keeping our campuses safe,” Bundy said. “With this we applaud you and greatly appreciate all that you do for our students and staff.”
