November 11-15 is School Psychologist Appreciation Week. This year’s National School Psychology Week theme is “Spark Discovery,” which highlights the work that school psychologists do to help their communities seek out new ideas, effect change, and expand horizons for children and youth.

Leander ISD is proud to recognize the district’s outstanding school psychologists, who go above and beyond for our students every day. Currently, the district’s evaluation team consists of 42 school psychologists. The total number of students receiving special education services in Leander ISD is more than 6,800.

“We are so incredibly grateful for our school psychologists,” said Paige Collier, Leander ISD assistant superintendent of special programs. “Thank you to these wonderful staff members who work hard every day to help our students. The work you do matters. We appreciate you!”

Leander ISD’s school psychologists administer and interpret evaluations for special education eligibility, suggest remedies to behavior and academic challenges, recommend specifications to assist in the placement of students in the least restrictive environment, provide related services in the educational setting, provide staff and parents consultation, and help with supervision of behavioral supports and services.

Our school psychologists also partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed socially, behaviorally, emotionally, and academically.

A big #1LISD “thank you” to our wonderful and dedicated team of school psychologists!
