Opened in the fall of 1995, Leander ISD’s first middle school of the district’s current era – Cedar Park Middle School – is named for its surrounding community of Cedar Park. Prior to its opening, LISD had one junior high school, “Leander Junior High School,” which was located at the current site of Leander Middle School. Leander Junior HS merged with the Cedar Park Middle School, with Leander Middle School opening the following year.
The incoming students selected the school’s mascot – the Leopard – and the school colors: red and white with “just a touch” of black.
