This month, Leander ISD is highlighting the English Electives cluster within the district’s Career and Technical Education program.
Some people don’t associate CTE programs with rigorous academic studies – but in addition to STEM programs, CTE also provides students with the opportunity to explore advanced learning within English and communication fields.
The CTE English Elective programs of study offered in Leander ISD include Advanced Journalism: News Media, Advanced Journalism: Yearbook, Debate, Oral Interpretation and Public Speaking.
“I think people need to go into these CTE classes and get out of these easy goals that are set in front of them,” Leander High School Student Daniel Gutierrez said. “I want people to like, kind of explore and jump around. And I feel like debate is the perfect scenario.”
