Leander ISD is pleased to welcome Casey O’Pry, Ed.D., to the role of Chief Human Resources Officer after the Board approved the hiring at Thursday night’s meeting.
“As a human capacity organization, we are always looking for the highest-quality people to join our #1LISD family,” said Leander ISD Superintendent, Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “This is particularly true for the Chief Human Resources Officer position. I am thrilled to announce that Dr. Casey O’Pry will be joining our team as the new CHRO. He brings a wealth of experience, wisdom and positive compassion to help us navigate the challenges ahead. Please help me welcome him to our family.”
Before joining Leander ISD, O’Pry served as a human resources leader for 19 years in Clear Creek ISD, where he spent the entirety of his career. Starting as a teacher, he quickly climbed the leadership ladder as a campus administrator, then becoming a human resources director. In his most recent role as human resources assistant superintendent, O’Pry spearheaded human resources operations, managing talent acquisition and providing strategic leadership for all employee groups. He also led a district employee retention task force from 2019–2023 and consistently utilized district data to collaboratively develop and present projected staffing needs to Clear Creek ISD’s board of trustees.
“I am honored to join the Leander ISD family and to work alongside dedicated educators and staff who are devoted to fostering a nurturing environment for our students,” O’Pry said. “Together, we will continue to build on the Leander ISD culture that empowers our teachers and staff to create a place where every child is inspired to succeed.”
O’Pry earned his bachelor’s degree in education from McNeese State University and a Master of Education in educational administration from the same institution. He holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of Houston.
