Superintendent Message: State of the District

During the 2022 State of the District, Superintendent Bruce Gearing shared how #1LISD empowers each and every student. Through the support of our staff, parents, leadership and community, we can help provide a framework of learning that drives us all toward a Graduate Profile. In a perfect world, the goals are easy. However, challenges can detract, subtract and distract. We remain committed to collaboration, ownership, failing forward, and cycles of improvement to guide us in all we do.

Graduation

Seniors of Leander ISD’s six high schools – more than 3,100 graduates! – crossed the stage at the H-E-B Center Thursday and Friday, May 26–27, culminating their K12 journeys with a Texas-sized celebration. The district also hosted graduation ceremonies for New Hope High School and SELF 18+ Transition Services.

Summer Board Meeting Updates

The Board of Trustees meeting originally scheduled for June 9 has been moved to June 13. Additional summer Board meeting dates are June 23, July 21 and Aug. 4. These Board meetings will be held at 6:15 p.m. at the LEO Center. The meetings are also available through live-stream on our Board of Trustees webpage. Meeting agenda packets are available online within 48 hours of the meeting. 

At the June 13 meeting, Trustees will consider approval for the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) puberty curriculum, the amendment to extend the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Leander Educational Excellence Foundation (LEEF), and the interlocal agreement between Leander ISD and the City of Austin (Austin Public Health) for a new Early Childhood Special Education/PreKindergarten classroom at Grandview Hills Elementary. 2022 Summer Meal Service Now Offered at Multiple Campuses

From June 6 through July 29, 2022, Leander ISD will connect children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 with healthy, no-cost summer meals. See this article for more information.

Campus Connection

Wrapping up our Campus Connections with a fun-filled journey through Cedar Park High School. Students in the Mobilemaker App class call the journey “extremely helpful” as they help learn app development alongside INCubatoredu students at Vista Ridge High School. Watch the journey make the destination much more meaningful in a poetry lesson. Plus, three Leander ISD Board members swap a seat on the dais for the news set. Smile! Leadership LISD: Accepting Applications

Leander ISD’s Leadership program will relaunch for the 2022-2023 school year. This program offers a unique opportunity for community members, business partners and families to participate in an interactive, in-depth, nine-month learning experience. Participants will go “behind the scenes” of Leander ISD, meet the innovators of our programs, and leaders of services to see first-hand how the district creates a climate of success for our rapidly growing student population. New Student Registration and Returning Student Verification for the 2022–23 School Year

New registration is going on now. Learn more about registering your child for the 2022-23 school year here. 

We have also opened the opportunity for parents to verify their returning students for the 2022-23 school year. Verification takes place through the Home Access Center. Please be on the lookout for emails that will be arriving in your inbox with further instructions. If you do not receive one by the end of the day on Monday, please check your Spam folder. Student Device Health and Maintenance

For families with high school or middle school students using LISD laptops please see this guide to maintaining your laptop. Following these recommendations for device health, even over the summer, will keep your device in optimal condition and ready for use all year. Cell Phone Ban Markers Coming to City of Cedar Park School Zones

New signage is coming to school zones in Cedar Park. Cedar Park City Council approved a resolution authorizing the installation of Cell Phone Use Prohibited signs. Drivers will notice these signs in all Cedar Park school zones, starting with Reagan Elementary, Vista Ridge High School and Henry Middle School. State lawmakers passed a law in 2009 that prohibits the use of cell phones in school zones. 

Summer Substitute Job Expo

LEEF MUDstacle Registration is Now Open!

The 2022 MUDstacle and Family Fun Run is on Saturday, September 24 at 8 a.m. at Vista Ridge High School. Participants will pass through a series of obstacles of action-packed FUN. You’ll climb, crawl, walk, and run your way through a mud forest, slog your way through a sea of swirly-twirly noodles, and even walk the plank before reaching the finish line! Varying lengths and obstacle difficulties will meet and challenge every family member.

Helping students reach their full potential through engagement, Larkspur Assistant Principal Ruth-Ann Johnson creates an amazing environment for all on her campus! Jumping into her role as assistant principal with great enthusiasm, she quickly became an integral part of the administration team. Durante el evento de Informe de Gestión Distrital 2022, State of the District, el Superintendente Bruce Gearing, compartió como #1LISD empodera a cada uno de los estudiantes. A través del apoyo del personal, padres. Líderes y comunidad podemos ayudar a crear un marco de aprendizaje que nos conduce hacia el Perfil del Graduado. En un mundo perfecto, las metas serían fáciles. Sin embargo, los desafíos pueden interferir, restar y distraer. Permanecemos comprometidos con la colaboración, el sentido de pertenencia, fallar y volver a intentarlo y continuar los ciclos de mejoramiento continuo para guiarnos en todo lo que hacemos.

Graduaciones

Les presentamos orgullosamente a los estudiantes de último año de Preparatoria de seis escuelas preparatorias de Leander ISD – ¡más de 3100 graduados! – cruzaron el escenario en el Centro HEB el jueves y viernes mayo 26 y 27, para culminar su educación preparatoria de K-12°, un trayecto que merece una celebración del tamaño de Texas. El distrito también realizó ceremonias de graduación para la Escuela Preparatoria New Hope y para los estudiantes del programa de Transición SELF 18+.

Actualización de reuniones de la Junta Directiva durante el verano

La reunión de la Junta Directiva originalmente programada para el 9 de junio se ha cambiado al 13 de junio. Las fechas adicionales de reunión de la Junta durante el verano son el 23 de junio, el 21 de julio y el 4 de agosto. Estas reuniones de la Junta Directiva se llevarán a cabo a las 6:15 p.m.  en el centro de conferencias  LEO Center. Las reuniones también están disponibles a través de transmisión en vivo a través de nuestra página web de la Junta Directiva  Paquetes de agendas de las reuniones se encuentran disponibles en línea 48 horas antes de la reunión. 

En la reunión del 13 de junio, los miembros de la Junta Directiva  considerarán la aprobación del plan de estudios de pubertad del Comité Asesor de Salud Estudiantil (SHAC), la enmienda para extender el memorando de entendimiento (MOU) con la Fundación para la Excelencia Educativa de Leander (LEEF), y un acuerdo interinstitucional entre Leander ISD y la ciudad de Austin (Agencia de Salud Pública de Austin) para una nueva clase de Prekinder de infancia temprana para educación especial en la escuela primaria Grandview. De junio 6 a julio 29 de 2022, Leander ISD prestará el servicio de alimentos para niños menores de 18 años y estudiantes matriculados con servicios de educación especial hasta los 21 años con comidas de verano saludables y sin costo. Consulte este artículo para más información.

Serie de videos: Campus Connection

Culminamos nuestra serie de videos de Campus Connections con un viaje lleno de diversión a la Escuela Preparatoria Cedar Park. Los estudiantes en la clase de aplicaciones de MobileMaker, califican su travesía por esta clase como “extremadamente útil” porque aprendieron a desarrollar aplicaciones junto a estudiantes de la escuela preparatoria Vista Ridge de INCubatoredu. Aquí usted puede vivenciar lo que significó esta experiencia que cobra mucho más significado en una lección de poesía. Además, tres miembros de nuestra Junta Directiva estuvieron ocupando un asiento en el set de noticias. ¡Sonría! Aquí comienza un nuevo Campus Connection, estamos con la escuela Preparatoria Cedar Park!

En los videos de Campus Connection la Junta Directiva de Leander ISD y el equipo de liderazgo se enteran de primera mano cómo se conectan nuestras escuelas y cómo se cultiva a cada estudiante para producir los creadores más apetecidos de nuestro mundo futuro.

Liderazgo LISD – Aceptando aplicaciones

Matrículas para estudiantes nuevos para el año escolar 2022-2023 y verificación de matrículas para estudiantes actuales

Las matrículas para estudiantes nuevos para el año escolar 2022-23 están abiertas. Usted puede registrar a su niño(a) en línea o en persona. Consulte esta página para más detalles.

También hemos abierto la oportunidad para que los padres verifiquen el registro de sus estudiantes que regresan al año escolar 2022-23. La verificación de su registro se puede hacer a través del sistema Home Access Center. Próximamente recibirá un correo electrónico con las instrucciones para la verificación. Si usted no ha recibido el correo al final del próximo lunes, por favor revise también su bandeja de correo no deseado. Mantenimiento y bienestar de los dispositivos de estudiantes durante el verano

Para familias con estudiantes de secundaria o preparatoria que usan computadores de LISD por favor consultar esta guía de mantenimiento de su dispositivo. Al seguir estas recomendaciones para el mantenimiento de los equipos, incluso en el verano, se ayuda a mantener el equipo en óptimas condiciones para usarlo todo el año. Si tiene alguna pregunta sobre el mantenimiento o la asistencia del dispositivo, comuníquese con la línea de Soporte Técnico de  LISD al  512-570-0566.

Señalización de uso prohibido de celulares llega pronto a zonas escolares de la ciudad de Cedar Park

Llegará nueva señalización a las zonas escolares en Cedar Park. El concejo de la ciudad de Cedar Park aprobó una resolución autorizando la instalación de señalización que prohíbe el uso de teléfonos celulares. Los conductores notarán estas nuevas señales en todas las zonas escolares de Cedar Park, comenzando con las escuela primaria Reagan, escuela preparatoria Vista Ridge y escuela secundaria Henry. Los legisladores estatales aprobaron una ley en 2009 que prohíbe el uso de celulares mientras se transita por zonas escolares.

Feria laboral para maestros sustitutos

LEEF MUDstacle Registration is Now Open!

La carrera divertida MUDstacle & Family Fun Run 2022 es el sábado 24 de septiembre a las 8 am en la escuela preparatoria Vista Ridge. Los participantes atravesarán una serie de obstáculos llenos de acción y DIVERSIÓN. Habrá diferentes longitudes y niveles de dificultad de obstáculos para desafiar y divertir a cada miembro de la familia.

Ayudar a los estudiantes a alcanzar su máximo potencial a través del compromiso, la subdirectora de la escuela primaria Larkspur Ruth-Ann Johnson¡crea un ambiente increíble para todos en su escuela! Apenas llegando a su papel como subdirectora y con gran entusiasmo, rápidamente se convirtió en una parte integral del equipo de administración. Ella es un apoyo increíble para el personal y tiene una habilidad asombrosa para conectarse con los estudiantes, ayudándolos a ser las mejores versiones de sí mismos.

El programa de Prospectos a Directores de Escuelas es una oportunidad de desarrollo de liderazgo para administradores actuales de Leander ISD que aspiran llegar a roles de dirección administrativa de las escuelas. El programa preparará a los participantes para liderar de manera efectiva diversas escuelas e impactar positivamente el éxito a través del enfoque en los componentes del Perfil de Liderazgo de escuelas de LISD.
