Eighth grader Joey Fennell from Canyon Ridge Middle School is the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week.
Joey is a member of the Eagle football and basketball teams and plans on participating in track and field in the spring.
Canyon Ridge Middle School Boys Athletic Coordinator Seth Simmons said that Joey is a leader in the classroom, always participating enthusiastically. In football, he maintains a team-first mentality, and is willing to play any position to help his team be successful.
“Joey gives maximum effort in every drill, every practice and every game. He is truly an outstanding young man and he is an ambassador for the CRMS Athletic Program,” Simmons said. “He is one of the hardest working athletes in our program, he is kind and respectful to all of his teammates and opponents and he puts into action the life lessons he has learned through athletic participation. He is a champion of CRMS Eagle Athletics!”
Joey maintains excellent grades while taking challenging courses. He is also an active member of Physical Education Pals at CRMS and a leader in the CRMS Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
