Leander ISD is pleased to announce that Katie Stewart, a proven campus leader within the district, has been selected as the new principal of Danielson Middle School. The Board of Trustees approved her hiring at Thursday night’s meeting.
“Ms. Stewart brings a wealth of experience to middle school,” said LISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “Known for her approachable and steady leadership, she leads with clarity, consistency, and care, always keeping students at the center of her decisions and empowering teachers to do their best work. Her commitment to listening, learning, and fostering strong relationships will ensure continuity for Danielson while inspiring continued growth and excellence.”
Stewart comes to Danielson from Leander Middle School, where she has served as lead assistant principal since 2022. In this role, Stewart has been instrumental in fostering a culture where teachers feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow in ways that directly benefit students. She even took that commitment further by completing LISD’s Continuous Improvement Institute with her team. Beyond campus operations, Stewart strengthened parent and community engagement through regular communication and events. Previously, she served as the campus testing coordinator and a social studies teacher at Vandegrift High School.
“I am honored and excited to serve as the next principal of Danielson Middle School,” Stewart said. “Danielson has a strong culture of building connections, serving the community, and keeping students at the heart of what we do, and I am so grateful to join the Bearkat family. I cannot wait to meet students, get to know the staff and carry on the legacy of Stacy Kaye. Bear Down, Go Kats!”
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Stewart earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and went on to earn a Master of Education in educational administration from Lamar University. Stewart also completed the District’s Prospective Principal Program last year.
