Leander ISD is pleased to announce Lauren Meeks as the district’s new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, after the Board of Trustees approved her hiring at Thursday night’s meeting.
“Lauren is a trusted leader who has spent her entire career in Leander ISD and has a track record of engaging multiple stakeholders with a focus on positive relationships,” said Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “I look forward to seeing Lauren continue the work of leading the ownership of learning at each and every level in LISD.”
Meeks most recently served as principal of Cedar Park Middle School, where she worked collaboratively with the instructional leadership team to establish campus goals and actions, resulting in a culture of Continuous Improvement.
Throughout her time in LISD, Meeks has excelled as a campus leader, gaining a wide range of educational and leadership experience on multiple campuses and in various teaching, curriculum-driven, administrative and mentoring roles. Her extensive experience in educational leadership includes serving as principal of Parkside Elementary School and assistant principal of Henry Middle School. Prior to serving as a campus leader, Meeks was an instructional coach and classroom teacher in LISD.
Meeks has been heavily involved in district leadership initiatives. She has served as a Leander ISD Prospective Principal Program facilitator, been part of the Community Based Accountability System leadership team and has mentored new LISD principals.
“It is an honor to serve as assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction,” Meeks said. “I am overjoyed for the opportunity to build upon Leander ISD’s long standing culture of excellence, where innovation sparks possibility, deeper learning drives purpose, and students are equipped to thrive in an ever-changing world. Together, we will continue to push boundaries and create meaningful learning experiences that truly empower learners across the #1LISD community.”
Meeks completed her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies at Texas State University in San Marcos, also earning a teaching certification. A decade later she attended Lamar University, completing her Masters in Education Administration in 2016. She also holds a principal certification and has attended extensive educational training and professional development opportunities throughout her career.
Lauren Meeks fills the position last held by Chris Clark, Ed.D., who recently moved to the role of deputy superintendent of learning and innovation at Leander ISD.
