The Board of Trustees approved a new mission statement to complement the district’s work on identifying our Core Beliefs, setting a Vision Statement, and recreating the Graduate Profile.
Mission Statement
We will cultivate each individual student by:
- Knowing and appreciating them
- Creating a safe and supportive environment to nurture their personal growth
- Partnering with each family
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Board, especially trustees Aaron Johnson and Anna Smith, for their dedication in writing a mission statement that provides direction to our Leander ISD family on how we are going to execute the vision for the district,” Board President Trish Bode said. “We know growth and continuous improvement are critical elements of an exemplary, challenging learning environment for our students and families, and we’re committed to continuing the work necessary to cultivate them.”
Trustees and the administration have been working together for several months to establish these guiding documents, setting the stage for a Strategic Plan. With an aligned framework for setting the direction for the district, we can identify and plan the specific goals and strategies to shape our district.
“Partnering with each family in the district is important to us,” Johnson said. “We felt like this three-pronged mission statement gives us some pretty solid anchors to build off of so they can fairly easily, fairly naturally and organically extend district goals and other actions from the mission statement. We felt like it was a pretty strong, pretty robust framework.”
Trustees will meet again next Thursday, May 20, for a regular meeting.
