Opened in 2014, Leander ISD’s 24th elementary school — Officer Leonard A. Reed Elementary School — is named after Cedar Park Police Officer Leonard Allen Reed, who lost his life in an accident while on duty in August of 2010.

Stiles Middle School is Leander ISD’s newest middle school. It opened in August of 2012 and is named after former LISD teacher, Florence Wallace Stiles. Since its opening, the student population has nearly doubled.

With careful precision, Stiles Middle School Project Lead the Way/Gateway students put engineering skills to practice in a class project. These real-world engineering skills include measurement, orthographic sketches and dimensioning guidelines. For this project, the students are building “skimmers.” If built accurately, the devices will travel over 40 feet across the ground when launched.
