The Vandegrift High School Marching Band took first place in the 2022 UIL State Marching Band Contest held Nov. 7 and 8 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The Vista Ridge High School Marching Band also advanced to the finals, placing fifth among the 42 6A bands in the contest.
VHS and VRHS performed in the contest’s preliminary round Monday, advancing with 14 other bands to the final round Tuesday.
Since 2000, VHS has placed in the UIL State Marching Band Contest a total of six times, finishing in second place in the 2021 contest. VRHS has placed seven times, landing in 11th place in 2021.
