The Leander ISD community is invited to nominate an exceptional school nurse within our district for the Bluebonnet Excellence in School Nursing Award. This program is sponsored by Cartwheel and aims to bring statewide recognition to the important work of our school nurses, who go above and beyond every day to support student health and well-being on their campus.
Nominations are now open and will run through early spring. Parents, teachers, school staff, fellow nurses, and eligible students are all encouraged to nominate nurses who demonstrate compassion, dedication, and meaningful impact in their schools. One grand prize winner will be announced on National School Nurse Day, May 6, 2026.
The goal of the Bluebonnet Award is to shine a light on the often unseen work school nurses do every day, from managing chronic conditions and responding to emergencies to supporting student health in increasingly complex school environments.
