Leander ISD is grateful for our community’s partnership in abiding by health and safety guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic. From the outset of this challenging time, the district has worked in lockstep with local health agencies to keep our students, teachers, and staff safe by adhering to these guidelines.
On December 2, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released an update, “Options to Reduce Quarantine for Contacts of Persons with SARS-CoV-2 Infection Using Symptom Monitoring and Diagnostic Testing.” (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/more/scientific-brief-options-to-reduce-quarantine.html)
The update provides for optional, shorter close-contact quarantine timeframes in certain circumstances. However, it upholds the CDC’s current recommendation of a 14-day quarantine period. In consultation with our local health departments and due to the increasing transmission rates, LISD will continue following the CDC “gold standard” of 14 days for quarantine, as this is the most evidence-based and safest option.
We will continue to monitor and collaborate with local officials to establish the appropriate district response, including any changes to our plan when necessary.
