Leander ISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., spoke at the Texas Capitol Thursday to give a voice of support for public schools in the midst of a special session of the 88th Texas Legislature.
Gov. Greg Abbott called the special session in part to provide private schools with subsidies, also known as vouchers or Education Savings Accounts (ESAs). Left off of the call was any inclusion of funding for public education.
In a letter to the #1LISD community, Gearing lays out context for the financial reality of school districts across the state, along with highlighting the actions of our Board of Trustees.
