For seeing a challenge as an opportunity to grow, today we recognize LISD Super Kid Maya Gutschow!
As a Cypress Elementary fourth-grader, Maya doesn’t stumble in the face of correction. She embraces accountability. Determined, Maya must find out why she missed a problem either by working it out herself, asking a friend, or asking the teacher to explain it to her. Then, when she does figure it out, she makes changes without letting it get her down. She realizes that mistakes are a way to improve and uses those mistakes as a learning opportunity.
“Maya smiles and feels confident when she solves challenging math problems. I love how she always tries to improve and become a better student every single day,” Cypress Elementary fourth-grade teacher Margie Jacobson.
