Leander ISD is excited to welcome Erika Cruz as principal of Danielson Middle School.
“Erika’s leadership at Plain Elementary has been defined by her instructional leadership and her ability to form strong connections with students, staff, and the community,” Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., said. “We are excited to see how Erika will continue to build upon the strong culture of DMS that encourages each and every student, staff, and community member to Invest, Encourage, and Impact all to Live the Stacy Kaye Way!”
Cruz has served as the principal of Plain Elementary School since 2021, establishing a strong campus culture and building strong relationships with the community. During the 2022-23 school year, she was recognized as one of the H-E-B Excellence in Education Top 5 Principals in the State of Texas. Before coming to Leander ISD, Cruz served as an assistant principal at Spicewood Elementary School in Round Rock ISD and an assistant principal at Windermere Primary School in Pflugerville ISD.
“I am incredibly honored to be named the next principal of Danielson Middle School. I look forward to partnering with students, staff and families as we honor established traditions and continue to provide an innovative learning experience for every student,” Cruz said. “Together, we will equip our learners with the tools and knowledge they need to be world changers. Cruz completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas and her Masters in Education from Texas State University. Cruz is currently a doctoral candidate at Lamar University, projected to graduate in May 2024. She completed her principal certification through Lamar University in 2014.
