As part of the 7th and 8th grade Science Middle School and 9th grade High School Health curricula, students will learn about the human reproductive system, abstinence, and human sexuality. This material will be taught for 3 day windows at every LISD MS and HS campus by Austin LifeGuard from Oct. 21-May 26.

If you wish to preview the material for this unit, you may do so at your home campus library between the hours of 8:30 – 4:00 p.m. or click on the Austin LifeGuard link on the Human Sexuality Curriculum page of the Leander ISD website. Additionally, we host a few parent workshops throughout the year and future times and locations for them are listed below. Parent workshops are designed to give parents helpful tips for communicating with their children (Grades 7–9) about human sexuality, allow them to review the district curriculum, explore statistics from health officials and ask questions of Austin LifeGuard and LISD staff.

You may choose to exempt your child from this instruction by completing and returning the grade appropriate Opt Out Letters found at the bottom of the Human Sexuality Curriculum page.
