Henry Middle School Theatre Arts Director Lorri Boyd has achieved the prestigious level of Exemplary for Texas Educational Theatre Association’s (TxETA) Award of Distinction for her excellent direction of the Henry theatre program.
“This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to the relentless dedication and hard work exhibited by the entire faculty, staff and students at Artie L. Henry,” TxETA President Travis Springfield said in a letter of congratulations. “[Lorri’s] commitment to excellence and relentless pursuit of academic and extracurricular achievements has undoubtedly set an aspiring example for other educational institutions in the region.”
Henry MS Principal agreed that Boyd’s commitment to the success of her students and investment in the theatre program has led to the outstanding success of the program and this special honor from TxETA.
“Lorri Boyd is an amazing theatre arts director who coaxes performances from her middle school students which are indistinguishable from many high school performances,” Ellis said. “More importantly, Ms. Boyd creates a community with her students which is kind, supportive, inclusive and joyful. She is often named by students as their favorite teacher. All praise goes to Ms. Boyd for this achievement through her tireless effort and dedication to the theatre and debate students at Henry Middle School.”
According to TxETA, the Awards of Distinction was created to recognize college/universities, school districts and theatre departments who are making outstanding contributions to raising the standards for theatre education in the school, district, and the state as observed through achievement, curation of resources, diversity and advocacy for theatre arts.
