Block House Creek Elementary was recently recognized by Solution Tree for its sustained success in raising student achievement. For the 12th year in a row, the school was recertified as a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work.

PLCs are schools and districts in which educators recognize the key to improved learning for students is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students. The three big ideas of a PLC call upon educators to:

  1. Focus on learning
  2. Build a collaborative culture
  3. Create a results orientation

Block House Creek received a visit from Susan Rabel, a Solution Tree representative, in September. Rabel presented Block House Creek Principal Deana Cady, Ed.D., with a certificate and flag to mark the recertification.

“We are honored to be recertified for year 12 as a nationally recognized Model PLC school,” Cady said. “We want to celebrate all the incredible work of our campus leaders and Instructional Coach Anjie Motal on our journey to assist students in reaching their potential.”

The recognition is significant because schools are only recognized if they meet strict criteria, including demonstrating a commitment to PLC concepts, implementing these concepts for at least three years, and clear evidence of improved student learning over that period. Once measurable results can be seen, the school must explain its practices, structures, and culture and submit its application for consideration by the PLC review committee.

Congratulations to Block House Creek Elementary for this outstanding achievement and their years of PLC leadership within Leander ISD.
