Applications for the Leadership LISD Class of 2024 are now open for community members interested in learning more about Leander ISD directly from district leaders and through the hands-on participation offered in this nine-month program.

“We are inviting parents, community members and local business partners to apply to become part of the Leadership LISD class of 2024,” Assistant Director of Community Relations Shannon Lombardo said. “This program offers a unique opportunity to meet and interact with district leaders and to learn more about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the incredible programs offered in our district.”

The Leadership LISD experience allows district parents and community members to gain in-depth knowledge about the various programs and departments in Leander ISD. Nine classes are held throughout the school year at different district locations – from transportation facilities to school campuses to the science materials center – with each class focused on a specific department or program. School finance and relevant legislative topics are also addressed throughout the year.

“I really appreciated the education around school finance and how it correlates to funded programs and needs of the district,” Leadership LISD Graduate Natomi Blair said. “I also loved my engagement as Principal for a Day at Mason Elementary School.”

Leadership LISD graduates appreciated hearing directly from department leaders and staff, and many enjoyed their school visits during their “Principal for a Day” school and classroom visits at the end of the year.

“The highlight of Leadership LISD for me was getting a look at the breadth and complexity of running the district,” Leadership LISD Kristina Swan said. “I learned so much about the vast amount of programs available to serve all students.”

Leadership LISD classes will be held on Wednesdays once a month during the school year at various locations throughout the district. These classes are currently scheduled for September 6, October 4, November 1, December 6, January 10, February 7, March 6, April 3 and May 1.
