Leander ISD is proud to announce Justin Pine as principal of the Geiger Compass Center, home to the district’s 18+ Transition Services program. Beginning in August 2025, the program will officially relocate to its new building, designed to support students receiving special education transition services between the ages of 18 and 22.
At Thursday night’s meeting, the LISD Board of Trustees approved the reclassification of Pine’s current role—from coordinator of 18+ Transition Services to principal of the Geiger Compass Center.
“Justin is a dedicated and collaborative leader who brings a strong commitment to student success and staff support,” said Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “His passion for creating inclusive, innovative learning environments makes him the right person to continue leading this important work. We look forward to the positive impact he will have on the Geiger Compass Center community.”
Pine has served as the district’s coordinator of 18+ Transition Services since 2022. In this role, he has overseen programming for students, supported teachers and staff, facilitated visual transition planning meetings, and collaborated with secondary campuses to identify and meet student needs.
Prior to his role as coordinator of 18+ Transition Services, Pine gained extensive experience supporting students in special education. He previously served as a transition and truancy specialist in Leander ISD and as a special education teacher at both the Rosedale School and Clint Small Middle School in Austin ISD.
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as principal of the Denise Geiger Compass Center,” Pine said. “I am dedicated to honoring student voice, building independence and celebrating individual strengths. I look forward to collaborating with students, families, staff and the community to positively impact students in 18+ Transition Services.”
Pine holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science and a Master’s Degree in educational leadership, both from Texas State University.
