Leander ISD Board of Trustees expressed concern over the Texas Legislature’s failure to agree on school funding increases or tax relief during the recent session. In a letter shared with the #1LISD community, Trustees believe education was not prioritized despite a $33 billion surplus.

Special sessions are expected to address these issues. LISD will receive some additional funding based on existing law, but recruitment and retention of qualified staff remain challenging. Governor Abbott signed several bills affecting LISD, including new safety measures which were not adequately funded. Additional bills await the Governor’s signature. Stakeholders are urged to stay informed and engage with local PTAs and lawmakers.
