Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve received thousands of emails and Let’s Talk questions, and it really helps LISD understand what is on the minds of our families. We answer these questions in our constantly-updated Launch to Learning webpage. These additions will be highlighted green for a few days and then moved into queue under the appropriate subcategory:

  • Student and Staff Health,
  • Classroom and Campus Safety,
  • Social Distancing, and
  • Virtual Empowered Learning

We appreciate your feedback, questions, and concerns as we continue to seek guidance from our local, state, and federal health officials, and direction from our Board of Trustees to plan a safe return this fall.

Board Meeting Tonight and Recap in Update #7 on Friday

Leander ISD will host a Board of Trustees meeting tonight (Thursday, July 16) which will include a comprehensive proposal for launching the 2020–21 school year. Feedback and direction from the Trustees will be part of a recap of that meeting that will be sent to our families as part of Update #7 tomorrow (Friday).

Applications for Off-campus PE Due by Next Friday, July 24

Off-campus PE is an optional program utilized by students in grades 6–12 who wish to apply to receive their PE credit through an outside, privately funded, pre-approved organization.

All off-campus PE student applications for the 2020–21 school year are due to your school counselor no later than Friday, July 24, 2020, at 4 p.m. The updated policies, procedures, and forms can be reviewed in detail on the Leander ISD OCPE website.

For additional questions, please contact K.B. DeBord, assistant athletic director, by email at [email protected].

LEEF receives $50,000 Moody Foundation grant

We are pleased to announce that our Leander Educational Excellence Foundation (LEEF) has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Moody Foundation. This grant will go a long way in supporting mental healthcare opportunities for our students.

A long-term goal of Leander ISD counseling services is to bridge the gap in the mental health needs within our district by expanding opportunities for free mental health services currently offered to Leander ISD students and families. This model would not replace the campus-based services currently offered in Leander ISD but would be to supplement these services for long term care, the involvement of other family members, and after-hour or weekend hours.

There are costs associated with any new program such as personnel, equipment, and supplies. Thanks to LEEF and the Moody Foundation, this grant will be used to help support the costs of these needs so they can get one large step closer to their goals and meeting the individual needs of each student in their program.
