As we hurtle towards the holidays, LISD will continue to focus on the health, safety and well-being of each and every child. Our latest newsletter has important information on the very latest happenings around the district as well as ways to help us improve for our students.

Elementary Zoning process for Tarvin Elementary and ES 29

Planning is underway to rezone Akin, Parkside and Pleasant Hill elementary schools in preparation for the opening of Tarvin Elementary School in August 2021 (currently under construction near the Palmera Ridge subdivision off Ronald Reagan Blvd. in Leander).

In addition, Larkspur and Plain elementaries will be impacted by Elementary School 29 in August 2022 (planned for the Bryson subdivision near 183A and south of TX-29 in Leander). ES 29 is expected for the 2022–23 school year but has not been approved for construction as LISD monitors enrollment growth and state public school funding during the pandemic.

The district is also considering changes to our zoning for assignments for bilingual services.

The Board of Trustees amended the Tarvin Elementary attendance zoning charter to include the 29th elementary school, which could open as early as August 2022. The charter outlines the process and priorities for establishing new attendance zones.

With the 28A and 29A scenarios, you can submit feedback through Thoughtexchange through Nov. 29. We will use this data to continue developing a recommendation for the Board in early 2021.

Fall 2020 MidPoint Survey

As a continuous-improvement district, you can help LISD understand how to meet the needs of our community by responding to the Parent Fall 2020 Midpoint Survey. The results of this survey will help us improve our in-person and virtual learning environments, as well as gather specific feedback about student experiences from our students, teachers, and parents.

We are asking that all LISD parents participate in the survey by clicking on the link: Parent Fall 2020 Midpoint Survey. Since all of our students are experiencing this fall differently, we encourage you to complete this survey for each child you have enrolled in LISD.

Thank you for your continued support and participation as we navigate this challenging school year and work to create the best learning environment for our students.

Please feel free to contact Sarah Martinez if you have any questions or concerns.

Graduation 2021 will be held at Gupton Stadium

We’re so proud of how our #1LISD family rallied around the Class of 2020. While we know it wasn’t what any of us had envisioned, graduation ceremonies in July went smoothly thanks to careful planning and the cooperation of our community.

Because we anticipate COVID-19 continuing to be a concern in the spring semester, we believe that holding graduation at Gupton Stadium is our best option for providing the Class of 2021 the memorable graduation experience it deserves.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your campus directly.

For the health and safety of our students and staff, parents are required to complete a campus health screener each morning for each student attending classes in-person. Every campus has a designated health form that needs to be filled out before the student arrives at school. Please check with your child’s campus for more information.

Also, please remember the best practices during this time are to wear a mask, keep a safe social distance, and wash hands often.

Remind

Not receiving messages sent through Remind? Follow these steps:

  • Log into Remind using the same email address on file in Home Access Center (HAC).
  • Once logged in, click on your name in the top left corner, and select Account Settings and then Notification Preferences.
  • By default, your email address and the phone number on file in Home Access Center should
  • both be listed.
  • On this page, you can select which method(s) in which you’d like to receive messages. More information can be found here.

Not seeing your cell phone on your profile?

A phone number can only be listed on one Remind profile at a time, so it’s possible your phone number is already linked to a Remind account with an email address different from the one listed in HAC. “Drive-In” to the LEEF Gala 2021

It’s time for an incredible evening at Doc’s Drive-In Theatre to support our Leander ISD family! The LEEF 2021 Gala will be held Saturday, January 30th, and will offer a Drive-In Experience or an Online Experience! Reserve your car slot or register to attend from the comfort of your own home.

Giving Tuesday is December 1st

Mark your calendars for Giving Tuesday on December 1st! If each of our students had a community partner who donated $2 monthly, we would make an impact by investing nearly $1 million back into our classrooms annually!

If you are already a donor, help us out and encourage your network to join you as a member of the Classroom Impact Team in support of LISD students and staff. More info
