Third grader Nikolai Wando from Bagdad Elementary is the Leander ISD Super Kid of the Week.
Nikolai grew up in Uganda before moving to Texas two weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown. His first introduction to the United States’ school system was through virtual learning.
According to Nikolai’s teacher, Rebecca Dacke, Nikolai has grown into a true leader in the classroom this year. He is honest, kind, humble and responsible. He keeps his word to his teacher and his classmates, and always brings joy to the people around him.
Dacke said Nikolai is a loyal and understanding friend.
“Nikolai will own up to his mistakes and stand by his friends in their time of need. Other students look up to Nikolai and want to work with him because he works hard with whoever he is partnered or grouped with,” Dacke said. “In every instance, Nikolai does his best work and never lets down his classmates.”
Nikolai is a member of Leander FC Rattlers soccer league this year. He loves playing Roblox and Nintendo, and trying new card and board games. He also loves visiting his extended family and cousins in East Texas, especially his Grandma – they are very close.
