The closure of our school buildings for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year has left our Leander ISD seniors with an unsettling end of their high school career. In an effort to pour on as much pride as possible this month, we have selected two Student-Athletes of the Week to recognize. Both Leander High School seniors Noel Salazar and Jordan Lindsey are hitting home runs as our Leander ISD Student-Athletes of the Week!

Noel has a 4.46 GPA and will graduate with the electrical technician endorsement and certification through LHS’ Career and Technical Education program. He will be attending Texas Southern University in Houston this fall.

Noel is a senior member of the Leander High School Baseball Team and has been a three-year starter at shortstop for the Lions. He was the Newcomer of the Year his sophomore year and 2nd team All-District his junior year. 

“Noel is extremely hard working, completely dedicated to his craft and one of the hardest workers I have coached,” Lion head baseball coach Matt Grissom said. “He knows how to lead by example, but also knows when he needs to be a vocal leader as well. We will greatly miss Noel! His dedication to the Lion program will not be forgotten and we appreciate everything he has done for us.”

Jordan Lindsey is a four-year, senior letterman on the Lady Lion softball team. Jordan has been a member of the All-District team and Academic All-District team multiple times throughout her high school career. Jordan pushes herself on the field but has also pushed herself academically by taking ACC courses since her junior year. 

“Jordan is the type of athlete that coaches dream of having: dedicated, selfless, compassionate, and a fearless competitor,” Lady Lion head softball coach Kendall Driver-Perez said. “She has been a member of the Varsity team since her freshman year and has been an integral piece of our success each year. I will miss coaching this young woman, but I know that she will continue to represent Leander High School well.”
