Shawna Queen, AP Calculus and Statistics teacher at Leander High School, is the Leander ISD Staff Spotlight of the week.
Shawna has been teaching in LISD since 1992, and the relationships she has built with students and staff over the years extend well beyond the walls of her classroom. A former student said that “the amount of care Ms. Queen demonstrates to her students makes you feel like your mom is in class with you.”
Shawna helps students cultivate an appreciation for the difficult subjects that she teaches, in addition to preparing them for college courses. She knows and appreciates that all students learn differently, and works to individualize learning strategies in order to set up every student for success.
LISD is thankful for Shawna and what she means to so many of the students who have entered her classroom.
