Bright, colorful flags and costumes abound at Reed Elementary for International Day. The school hosted a parade led by Leander ISD Superintendent Dr. Bruce Gearing. In the spirit of his own tradition, clad in kilt, Dr. Gearing played bagpipes as he guided the procession of first-fifth-grade students through the hallways. Reed’s more than 750 students waved with excitement as the traditional wears of more than a dozen countries passed them by.
ESL teacher Jose Rodriguez organized the event that helped stimulate cultural awareness and celebrate the multi-nationalism of the Reed community.
