The Special Education Department of the Leander Independent School District is preparing to destroy personally identifiable information which was maintained to provide educational services for qualifying students. This information includes referral data, notice/consent documents, assessment reports with supporting data, ARD committee deliberations and IEP documents. Records are destroyed seven years after cessation of services. Cessation of services results when a student graduates, is dismissed from Special Education Services, moves out of district or drops out of school. Records currently being destroyed are for Special Education students whose services ceased in the 2010-2011 school years. Parents/Guardians of these students or the adult student (aged 18 or over), may contact the Special Education Department at 512-570-0328 before Nov. 26, 2018 should they wish to obtain the record being destroyed. These records may be needed in the future for Social Security benefits or other purposes.

Esta informaciΓ³n incluye datos de referidos, documentos de aviso y consentimiento, informes de evaluaciones con datos de apoyo, deliberaciones del ComitΓ© de AdmisiΓ³n, RevisiΓ³n y Retiro (ARD) y documentos del Plan Individual de EducaciΓ³n (IEP). Los expedientes se destruyen 7 aΓ±os despuΓ©s de haber terminado los servicios. La terminaciΓ³n o cese de servicios ocurre cuando el estudiante se gradΓΊa, cuando se retira de los servicios de educaciΓ³n especial, se transfiere fuera del distrito o se da de baja del distrito. Los expedientes que serΓ‘n destruidos son de estudiantes de educaciΓ³n especial quienes terminaron sus servicios en los aΓ±os escolar 2010-2011. Los padres, tutores legales de estos estudiantes o estudiantes adultos (de 18 aΓ±os de edad o mayores) pueden comunicarse con el Departamento de EducaciΓ³n Especial al telΓ©fono 512-570-0328 antes del 26 de noviembre de 2018 si desean obtener los expedientes antes que sean destruidos. Estos expedientes pudieran ser de utilidad en el futuro para beneficios de Seguro Social o algΓΊn otro propΓ³sito.
