Leander ISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., announced that 99 LISD seniors are National Merit Commended Students and more than 200 students identified as College Board National Recognition Program Scholars.

“It is a true pleasure to congratulate these deserving, hard-working students,” Gearing said. “To be recognized in this way reflects a strong commitment to scholastic excellence, as well as the outstanding contributions of their dedicated teachers and families.”

Approximately 34,0000 students throughout the nation received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

The Recognized Scholars scored in the top 2.5% of PSAT/NMSQT test takers who identify as one or more of the following:

  • African American,
  • Hispanic American, or Latinx,
  • Indigenous, or
  • Attend school in a rural area or from a small town.

Participation in the College Board National Recognition Programs (CBRP) will enable students to highlight their outstanding educational achievements to top colleges and universities.
