The Leander Educational Excellence Foundation (LEEF) presented the Leander ISD Fine Arts Department with $20,000 at Monday night’s Festival of Bands, surpassing LISD Fine Arts’ funding request by over $5,000 in order to further support fine arts programs and students in the district.

“The Leander Educational Excellence Foundation’s generosity will have a substantial impact on Fine Arts students district-wide,” LISD Director of Fine Arts Mike Howard said. “We are so appreciative of our partnership with LEEF.”

This year, LISD Fine Arts requested $14,480 to support the purchase of ProPanels for high school art classes, specific resources and tools needed to ensure student safety and abide by UIL’s recommendations for marching band heat protocols and procedures, and additional support for LISD Fine Arts Extracurricular Assistance Program.

The additional funds provided by LEEF will support the Fine Arts Extracurricular Assistance Program, which exists to ensure that no LISD student is excluded from participating in fine arts due to their family’s financial situation.

From 2016-2022, LEEF gave $1,000 annually to support LISD fine arts. Last year, the foundation awarded over $14,000 to support initiatives across all grades. The 2023 funding provided clay for elementary school students, ProPanels for elementary and middle school artwork, and UIL band software for high school students.
