Emails. Remind messages. Texts. Zooms. That’s the communication. Then, there’s the lessons – some at the kitchen table, others out in the backyard. That’s just one child. Some of our LISD families are doing the remote learning drill times two, three–even times seven! Amid unprecedented challenges, Leander ISD wants to assure our parents and guardians; we are here to help.

We hear you. We support you. None of this is easy.

LISD has created a Remote Learning Parent Hub. This site is designed to provide supplemental academic and student mental health and wellness resources and offers multiple content areas:

The content area resources support parents looking for additional ideas AFTER students have already engaged in the learning experiences shared by their teacher.

“The first three days have just been fabulous, beyond what we could have hoped for,” LISD Chief Academic Officer Matt Bentz, Ed.D. said. “Time and time again, the flexibility and intelligence of both our students and our employees–people making this happen–are amazing.”

In this state of a prolonged school closure, we have entered a new phase of presenting new content to students. Your child should be experiencing authentic and engaging learning, aligned to the standards set forth by Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the LISD curriculum, emphasizing opportunities for interaction with teachers and fellow classmates.

LISD has used a set of core values to help shape what remote learning should look like. We believe we have put our best foot forward as we pivot from physical classroom learning to emergency remote learning. We hope you continue to embrace the new normal and give us opportunity to walk with you through it.
