On December 17, 2018 the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awarded Leander ISD with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the 2018–2019 budget year. The MBA promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation only to school districts whose budgets have undergone a rigorous review by financial professionals and have met or exceeded the program’s stringent criteria.
“As stewards of taxpayer monies, we are utilizing the budget as a communication tool to display how our funds are being spent and how the district budget reflects student priorities and needs,” Leander ISD Chief Financial Officer Lucas Janda said. “The MBA program helps us create a transparent, accurate budget that builds trust with our community.”
