The TMEA Honor Band Contest is the state advancement contest for Texas Concert Bands and consists of a Region, Area, State Semi-Finals and State Finals round. Bands submit recordings of their UIL Programs the spring to be judged, with small percentages advancing from round to round. Classifications have the opportunity to participate in alternating years. This year HS Class 5A and MS Class 3C submitted recordings.
During the State Finals round of the competition, a state champion is selected within each classification to advance on to performance at the TMEA Convention the following school year. Last year, the Wiley Middle School band was named the 2022 2C Honor Band and performed at the TMEA Convention in February.
