Vista Ridge High School student Ivan Young not only balances advanced classes with an intense marching band rehearsal schedule, but also brings tremendous talent and a positive attitude to band each day. These attributes have led to him becoming the Leander ISD Fine Arts Student of the Week.
Ivan is a freshman, making it his first year as part of the VRHS marching band. Band Director Bryan Christian said that Ivan is an incredible individual who has overcome many challenges in his life. Although he is an extremely talented band member, his attitude especially stands out as it inspires the rest of the band members.
“Ivan is a great performer, both playing and marching, but what inspires me is his 100% effort, 100% of every repetition, without ever complaining,” Christian said. “His daily performance has made me analyze what comes out of my mouth when I face challenges – although, I have a ways to go to catch up to Ivan in this regard.”
