To the tune of his own beat, Leander ISD Fine Arts Student of the Week Damian Carrasco strikes a chord in leadership!
Damian Carrasco proudly plays with the Henry Middle School Hawk Band. Not only a great leader within the band program, the eighth-grade student works very hard in the classroom. During the HMS beginning double reed class, Damian serves as a student aide. He helps with anything and everything the directors ask! Despite his involvement with the band program at HMS, Damian also plays bassoon at his local church every Sunday.
“Damian is a hardworking student who is always ready to help out in any way that he can,” HMS Assistant Band Director Katherine Willer said. “He is a leader in the band program. Every day he sets the standard for how everyone should show up. A great role model for the beginning double reed class every day. He gives great individual feedback on their playing, demonstrates an excellent tonal example for them, and fosters a love of music in other students. He is one of the students that makes the programs in our district truly outstanding!”
Congratulations to Damian Carrasco, Leander ISD Fine Arts Student of the Week!
