Enrollment for the 2026–27 school year opens April 1, giving families the opportunity to enroll students across all grade levels in Leander ISD, including the district’s early childhood programs.
Supporting children from their earliest learning experiences is part of the district’s commitment to providing strong opportunities for every student as they begin their educational journey.
Across Leander ISD, early learning focuses on creating environments where children can grow through play, language development, social interaction and strong family partnerships. Research shows that nearly 90% of brain development occurs before the age of 5, making these early years a critical time for learning and development.
Leander ISD offers a variety of early childhood opportunities designed to support children and families during this important stage, including:
- Free Prekindergarten for qualifying 3- and 4-year-olds. Tuition-based PreK is also available with no qualification requirements where space is available at select early childhood community sites.
- Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services designed to meet individual student needs
- Parents as Teachers (PAT), a free program supporting families with children from birth to age 5
- Young Parent Services, which provides prenatal and postpartum educational support for teen parents
- Child Find, which helps identify children from birth to age 21 who may need special education services
Updates to Early Childhood Community Locations
As the district prepares for the 2026-27 school year, several updates are being made to the locations of early childhood community sites across Leander ISD.
These changes reflect several factors, including:
- The opening of a new early childhood campus in the northern portion of the district this fall
- The closure of the Faubion Elementary campus, which previously served as an early childhood community site
- Adjustments based on enrollment trends and past waitlists
Together, these updates help better align programs with student demand and expand access to early learning opportunities across the district.In total, 21 of the district’s 29 elementary schools will see a change at at least one level of the early childhood program as listed below.
